QUICK START GUIDE

ATTACH ANTENNA - Screw included antenna into antenna connector.

TURN ON - Plug Renny into an outlet with the supplied cord.  Renny automatically turns on. (To turn off Renny, unplug it.)

INITIAL PAIRING - Go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings to add a device (refer to your phone’s manual.) Tap “Renny JR.” on your phone to connect. Renny can only be connected to 1 phone at a time.  However, you can connect multiple Rennys to the same phone and place in different locations around the house.  All Rennys will ring simultaneously when there is an incoming call. If you do not see “Renny JR.” in your phone’s Bluetooth settings, refer to your phone’s manual & try resetting Renny:

1. Reboot your phone.  (Turn it completely off and on again.)
2. Insert a paperclip in the “RESET” hole on the bottom of Renny.
3. Press firmly on the button until you hear Renny say “reset”.
4. Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and search for "Renny JR"
5. Tap the word "Renny JR" to pair.  (If it asks for a code, try "0000".)

SELECT OPERATING MODE - Slide the switch left or right to change between RING or MUSIC modes.  You may need to reset Renny using a paperclip if you change modes often (see above on how to reset):

RING Mode: Renny rings loudly when you receive an incoming call. All other sounds stay on your phone.
MUSIC Mode: All audio from your phone will play on Renny, including all text/email notifications, music, media audio, etc.

SELECT RINGTONE - Short Press the MUSIC NOTE BUTTON to select the desired ringtone.

SELECT VOLUME - Press V- or V+ to select volume. A double beep will be heard when minimum or maximum volume is reached.

PHONE NUMBER ANNOUNCE - Press and Hold the MUSIC NOTE BUTTON until you hear the voice prompt to turn on/off phone number announce. (When on, Renny will announce caller’s phone number.)

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM #1:  Renny has trouble connecting or maintaining a connection after initial pairing.
SOLUTION #1:
1. Open the Bluetooth settings menu on your cell phone. Find the word “Renny JR” and delete the device from settings and “forget this device”
2. Reboot your phone. (Turn it completely off and on again.)
3. Toggle the Renny Mode Switch to “RING” Mode (if not already.)
4. Insert a paperclip in the “RESET” hole on the bottom of Renny.
5. Press firmly on the button until you hear Renny say “reset”.
6. Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and search for "Renny JR"
7. Tap the word "Renny JR" to pair.

OTHER THINGS TO TRY:
1. Make sure you are running the latest software on the phone in Settings.
2. If you have unplugged Renny and plugged it in several times to turn it off/on multiple times, reset the Renny using SOLUTION #1 again.  (Please note, Renny is designed to always be on and working, so if you unplug it several times, it may need a reset to consistently work.)
3.  If you have switched the Mode on Renny from “RING” Mode to “MUSIC” Mode (or vice versa), reset the Renny using SOLUTION #1 again.  (Please note, Renny is designed to permanently stay in one mode for optimal connectivity and performance.)
4. Check to make sure Renny is not plugged in to an outlet connected to a wall switch that could be turned off and on many times with the switch.  If so, try to plug Renny into a different outlet.
5. If there has been a power outage and Renny has lost power temporarily, please reset Renny using SOLUTION #1 again.
6. If Renny is near any other electrical devices such as a TV or radio, please try moving Renny to a new location and then reset Renny using "Solution #1" again.
7. Go to Bluetooth Settings and delete any Bluetooth devices that you do not need.
8. Go to your phone's settings, then navigate to the Bluetooth menu, select the gear icon next to "Renny JR" and select "Connect automatically” or “Always Connect” if possible.  If those options are not shown, try to check “other” when asked about device type.
9. Download an app for Android called "Bluetooth Auto Connect” and use the settings there to turn on “Always Connect”.  For iPhone, try the app called “BluetoothAssistant” and tell it to always connect to Renny JR.

PROBLEM #2: My Samsung Galaxy phone sends an incoming call to Renny when I pick up the phone, or I can not hear the caller.
SOLUTION #2:
1. Make sure you are running the latest software on the phone.
2. Make sure Renny is in “RING” mode.  (If not, toggle Renny into “RING” mode and perform “Solution #1” above before continuing these steps.)
3. Reboot the phone.
4. Go to "Settings" > “Accessibility" / Tap "Interaction and dexterity” / Select "Answering and ending calls” / Toggle off "Answer automatically”.
5. Reset your Bluetooth settings:  Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings.  Reconnect your Bluetooth devices afterward (Renny and any other devices you have).
6. Clear Bluetooth cache:  Go to Settings > Apps > Bluetooth > Storage > Clear Cache.  Reboot Phone, then repair Renny.
7. If this does not fix the issue, perform "Solution #1" above.

PROBLEM #3: My phone says connected to Renny but Renny does not ring.
SOLUTION #3:
1. Reboot your phone
2. Press and hold the Music Note Button on Renny for 5 seconds until it says "Phone number announce on".
3.  Press and hold the Music Note Button again on Renny for 5 seconds until it says "Phone number announce off".
4. Turn the volume on Renny down 3 or 4 presses.  Short Press the Music Note Button and confirm you hear a ringtone through Renny.  If you don't, reset the Renny using the steps above under "Problem #1".
5.  If the problem still persists, call 805-489-3636 or email us at info@olenstechnology.com and we can troubleshoot or replace the unit for free.

PROBLEM #4: In Music Mode, I can not hear text and other notification sounds through Renny.
SOLUTION #4:
1. Turn your phone's volume up all the way on your phone and make sure your phone is not on silent or vibrate.
2. If this does not fix the issue, perform "Solution #1" above.
3. Please note:  The volume of text and all other notifications (other than incoming calls) is determined by the volume level set on your phone, and not Renny.  If your phone is on silent, vibrate only, or low volume, you will not hear text and notifications on Renny.  This is a function of the phone's software.  We suggest using Renny in Ring Mode so all sounds stay on your phone.  A reset may be needed in this case (refer to Solution #1 above.)

PROBLEM #5: Renny does not show up in my Bluetooth settings.
SOLUTION #5:
1.  Reboot your phone. (Turn it completely off and on again.)
2.  Toggle Bluetooth off and on again in your phone's settings.
3.  If this does not fix the issue, perform "Solution #1" above.

PROBLEM #6:  Renny keeps going back to maximum volume.
SOLUTION #6:
1. Please Note:  When Renny is unplugged and plugged in again, Renny resets to 100% maximum volume on purpose.  To avoid this, keep Renny plugged in all the time and the volume level will be remembered.  If you reset Renny with a paperclip (Solution #1 above) then Renny will reset to 70% volume.)
